From April 13 to 23, the Jardin des métiers d'Art et du Design welcomes Les MétamorFoses, the first exhibition of artistic upcycling. Les MétamorFoses is an original collection of works of art created from imperfect materials sourced from France's finest manufacturers.

The exhibition, La Maison au center du Jardin, features some 50 pieces from the Les MétamorFoses Collection, as well as never-before-exhibited creations by Ecole CAMONDO students. The creations on display will echo the current exhibition Sempervirens, desirable objects for a sustainable world.

50 objets d'art to sublimate imperfections

Located in the heart of the Jardin des métiers d'Art et du Design, Les MétamorFoses invites you to discover its collection through four rooms that punctuate life and space like cardinal points. The centerpiece is the Tea House. Circling around it, you'll enter the powder room, relax in the boudoir, then take a journey to rediscover your garden.

Leading French fashion houses (Longchamp, Christofle, Bergère de France...) have entrusted materials originally destined for destruction to talented and renowned artists, designers and craftsmen. They have seized this opportunity to sublimate their imperfections.

The Domaine National de Saint-Cloud / Centre des Monuments Nationaux, contributed to the exhibition's scenography with the loan of plants for "Le Jardin d'Hiver". Sèvres, Manufacture et Musée nationaux have donated plates to be used as supports for the olfactory atmospheres created by Carole Calvez.

7 inspired works by Camondo students

Les MétamorFoses has also forged a partnership with the renowned Camondo school. The students also had access to all the materials (offcuts, end-of-series, materials with defects) entrusted to them by several Entreprises du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Companies), in order to transform disposables into valuable objects.

In January 2022, a jury made up of Ecole Camondo management and the founders of Les MétamorFoses selected 9 promising projects. The students were then given the opportunity to create their pieces with top-notch craftsmen over the course of 2022. In January 2023, a corpus of 7 works was created and will be presented exclusively at this exhibition.
