The guests

Léopolda Contaux-Bellina

Léopolda Contaux-Bellina graduated in International Political Economy from King's College London after studying in France, Germany and England. She founded a leather goods brand in 2014, which she will discontinue in 2018, preferring to respond precisely to the issues facing the leather industry. In 2019, she launches SED NOVE Studio, the innovation studio for the circular economy in the leather industry. The company adds value to the leathers and branded components of luxury companies in two ways: in experiential workshops and by manufacturing limited series of communication objects.

Celine Lopes

A member of Commitment Fashion's strategic board and founder of Smart Factory, she provides strategic support and expertise to companies and brands. Her primary mission is to create unique and meaningful brands. This is precisely the essence of Commitment Fashion: to stand out and encourage brands to engage in an innovative process by rehabilitating dormant stocks of exceptional materials.

Sed Nove, Latin for "the way is new, but not the material". Commitment Fashion means being ethically and sustainably committed to fashion.

For Sed Nove, the approach is first and foremost to reuse, without destroying, the dormant stocks of major fashion and luxury houses to give a new use to exceptional, unused leathers. As part of a circular economy scheme, Sed Nove's projects give a second life to leathers and components, in particular branded leathers, while companies give concrete expression to their commitment to eco-responsibility.

Their signature is evident at every stage of the recycling process. Sed Nove takes on the role of design office: from eco-design, to prototyping, to realization.

The studio's specialized know-how in leather has been recognized as a métier d'art, earning the young company the Grand Prix de l'Entrepreneuriat Ami Paris x Institut Français de la Mode in 2022 and a métiers d'art award from the French Ministry of Culture in 2021.

Commitment Fashion is the story of a meeting with Edouard Lemarquis, Artistic Director of Maison Gouvernel (suppliers of prestigious Chanel braids). He wanted to upgrade his stock of glass pearls, and initiated a collaboration with Thomas Arnal, Maître Verrier from Pantin. The result is a unique lighting fixture made from recycled glass beads. The fruit of a meticulous year-and-a-half-long project, it embodies the very essence of a creative and sustainable commitment.

Finally, at Commitment, commitment goes beyond words and takes the form of this recycling process, giving life to new creations. This action takes place in a sector that is often overlooked by luxury brands. Brands entrust us with these precious materials, which we then pass on to our talented craftsmen.
