Rose Ekwe, Textile designer - Weaver

Trained in design and weaving at the École Duperré in Paris, then at the Haute école des arts du Rhin in Mulhouse, textile designer and weaver Rose Ekwé founded her Atelier de tissage et de création textile in 2019.

In 2020, she will join the FLUXUS cultural incubator, then the residency of the Bureau du Design, de la Mode et des Métiers d'Art (Ateliers de Paris).

By exploring new processes in dialogue with engineers and scientists, Rose Ekwé is developing a singular, hybrid textile practice. By blending ancestral textile techniques with new production devices, she seeks to reinvent textile manufacturing processes that are more sustainable, more respectful of the environment and of living organisms. It is in this context that she has created an original spinning and weaving technique to produce exceptional textiles with a surprising feel from plants, algae and minerals: Gélotextiles®. Entirely bio-sourced, their patented composition makes them atypical, compostable and virtuous materials. In her artisan workshop, Rose Ekwé combines research, design and weaving.

It offers exclusive developments of custom-made Gélotextiles® for personalized projects in interior decoration, luxury goods and haute couture. L'Atelier is also a prototyping and R&D facility serving the automotive, cosmetics and therapeutic materials sectors, and all other fields where textiles can be considered in terms of innovation.
