Lucie Ponard

Lucie Ponard is a designer and ceramist working on the creation of new materials and objects with reduced environmental impact. Using the tools of art and design, she develops a practice centered on the exploration of places and the materials found there, in order to reveal the colors and textures specific to certain landscapes. By sublimating the materials of a place, she aims to develop aesthetic languages that are more respectful of the environment. Her approach is multidisciplinary, and she collaborates with external partners such as scientists, craftsmen and various local players.

In 2022, thanks to the support of FAIRE Paris, a call for projects launched by the Pavillon de l'Arsenal, it is developing a protocol for reusing building site soil and demolition waste to create glazed ceramics. This is part of a virtuous circle of reducing waste and the resources needed to produce ceramics. Depending on where they are collected, the composition of the earth differs, giving them different properties and colors. The creative process thus reflects the geography and geology in which it takes place. This project is also a winner of the Enowe-Artagon Production Fund.

In 2022, a residency at a ceramics high school with PAHLM enabled her to develop new applications for waste recycling. In 2023, she is guest artist at the ENSAD Limoges ceramics workshop, continuing her research into the creation of enamels from local rocks and waste. At the same time, she creates ceramic coverings and frescoes using materials from construction sites. She regularly organizes workshops, notably in painting and ceramics using local soils. This year, she is an art teacher at the Beaux-Arts de Marseille in the design department.
