JAD

A place of creation, innovation and exchange dedicated to the art and design professions in western Paris

Since September 2022, JAD, Jardin des métiers d'Art et du Design, has been offering professionals a unique place for creation and emulation, in the listed buildings of the former Sèvres national ceramics school. Some twenty workshops, an exhibition space and collective work and exchange areas will form a melting pot conducive to collaborative creation, innovation, the transmission and promotion of know-how.

The JAD is made up of 2 adjoining buildings classified as historic monuments. Built by architects Roux-Spitz (1932) and Brunau (1954), they were renovated by the Ponthaud architectural firm.

With a surface area of 2,600m2, spread over three levels, it houses :

- Around twenty individual or shared workshops (between 30 and 110 m2); bright, with high ceilings. Moderate rents and one-year leases renewable over 3 years.

- Common facilities open to all occupants:

  • A makerlab
  • Shared workshops
  • Meeting and reception rooms
  • A 167m2 showroom
  • A space for conviviality
  • An incubation facility (during 2023)

Serving a collective project, JAD aims to be a place of openness, witnessing the crossroads between the region's professions, audiences and art and cultural institutions. It offers a space for discovery, inspiration and sharing, at the heart of the Vallée de la Culture des Hauts-de-Seine.

JAD proposes a new cultural offering, built around experimentation and practice. A rich and singular program is built around 3 structuring axes:

> Social issues: exhibitions dedicated to the ecological transition, the digital transition and access to culture.

> JAD Collaborative Innovation: exhibitions of collaborative and research projects developed by JAD creators.

> Cultural exchanges: exhibitions dedicated to international know-how and creative worlds.

Events and experiences based on gesture, contact with materials and encounters with creators are organized throughout the year: 2 to 3 exhibitions a year, introductory workshops, demonstrations, lectures and debates...

JAD also takes part in major events highlighting these activities: Journées Européennes des Métiers d'Art, Paris Design Week, Fashion Week, Journées Européennes du Patrimoine...
