JAD designers and craftsmen Marta Bakowski, Cédric Breisacher, Luce Couillet, Marie Levoyet and Baptiste Meyniel have been invited to take part in the new exhibition at EAC - Espace de l'Art Concret Centre d'art contemporain.

In this, the 20th anniversary year of the Albers-Honegger Donation building, the eac. puts design in the spotlight with this second exhibition JAD designers in dialogue with the Albers-Honegger collection.

JAD's designers were invited to delve into the Albers-Honegger collection, selecting works with which they felt a "resonance".

True to the universal spirit of concrete art, Sybil Albers and Gottfried Honegger have not confined their collection to purely geometric works. They have broadened the scope by reflecting on the most striking, sometimes surprising, extensions that the twentieth century has produced, making their collection a work in its own right. In addition, they have assembled an exceptional collection of design pieces, notably chairs( Alvar Aalto'sPaimio armchair, Marcel Breuer's Wassily armchair, Frank O. Gehry's Wiggle side chair, Verner Panton's Panton chair...) that bear striking witness to the democratic conception of art intended by the initiators of this movement, and to its collective and social implications.

Their selections from the Albers-Honegger collection, enriched by their own work, establish a dialogue that transcends techniques, mediums and the barriers of time and space. The artists invited to take part in this project share specific links with the history of abstraction and its offshoots, which can echo or contrast with their own practices.

The creators of JAD

Luce Couillet revisits the practice of weaving to create sculptures, objects and graphic compositions. The uniqueness of her work lies in the use of weft threads in original shapes and materials that she designs and then cuts, without abandoning the orthogonality asserted in these hybrid objects.

Marta Bakowski specializes in working with color and materials in a hybrid approach to design, combining industrial, artistic and craft projects. Her creations are influenced by folk and popular arts.

Cédric Breisacher is a designer and sculptor. Inspired by the natural environment, he favors a local, circular production system. He revives the notion of labor and time in the manufacturing process through the use of hand tools.

Rotogravure and intaglio printer, Marie Levoyet works daily with photographers, visual artists and designers on the contemporary scene. She founded her studio in 2018, becoming one of the few to specialize in color gravure. For the exhibition, Marie Levoyet presents works in duo with Baptiste Meyniel.

Baptiste Meyniel centers his approach around movement, the gestures that materialize objects and reveal their potential uses. In recent years, he has devoted himself to working with glass, allowing his creations to adapt to different functionalities.
